In the competition of ModernSky (Chinese most popular musical festival Brand) New Blood Project, our team joined the installation art track. We set the conceptual scenario in the future, and conveyed the pioneering gesture of "refusing to be careful" in our response. Humanity and technology, matter and energy, "I am here too" in space are full of imagination and possibilities.
ModernSky Installation Art
What is this Competition?
ModernSky, China's most popular music festival brand, launched the "New Blood Project" design competition to explore innovative installation art. The goal was to redefine the space experience and engage audiences by combining bold concepts with creativity, under themes such as "Hi, I’m here too" and "Refuse to be careful."

Installation Requirement
- The installation art aimed to create a three-dimensional, large-scale interactive space
- Aligning with the overarching concept of space exploration
- Highlighting visual and experiential elements such as lighting, sound, and audience interaction.
Ensuring the installation resonates with the festival's ethos while delivering a memorable and immersive experience.

Concept of the Artwork
The installation uses mirrors to connect reality and illusion, creating an imagined dialogue with unseen beings from the universe. The piece invites viewers to experience alternate dimensions, reflecting diverse cultures, perspectives, and coexistence. By gazing into the mirrors, audiences engage in an exploration of time and space, transcending boundaries and forging connections.
The mirror serves as both a reflective and communicative medium, symbolizing the interconnectedness of humans, technology, and the cosmos. Through light, shadow, and the immersive effects of day and night, the installation interacts with its surroundings, amplifying the sense of infinite possibilities and narratives waiting to unfold.
This project embodies the pioneering spirit of "Refusing to be careful" by emphasizing curiosity, exploration, and an open invitation to connect with the unknown.

Location of the Artwork
The installation is placed in front of Hangzhou Kerry Center from 2021-2022.
353 Yan'an Rd, 湖滨商圈 Xiacheng District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, 310006
